Ebay Thrifting Tips: The Affordable Outerwear Series
Hello There! Its #ThriftyThursday. So, for the
second topic of our affordable outerwear series: Lets talk about thrifting on
Ebay. YES! I said thrifting on Ebay. A lot of people don’t know that Ebay
has a huge second hand clothing assortment. I knew that one of the key pieces during
this transitional weather (fall into winter), would be camo jacket. I had one
prior to moving to New York, but it as
in most things didn’t make the moving cut. So I searched my local thrift stores
and found that they either didn’t have one, or it was more than I was willing
to pay. So, what did I do? Went the good ole trusty Ebay (LOL). Typed in camo
jackets and viola! $2.76!! That’s better than freaking Goodwill! So her are my
tips for buying second-hand clothing on Ebay.
- Use Auction Type Listings: They usually end cheaper.
- Picture Heavy: Choose listings with multiple views in pictures: You want to make sure there’s no huge hole, stain, etc.
- Ask Questions: if you think something is off or can’t see some detail don’t be shy hit up the seller.
- Do Your Research: If you are buying a brand specific/vintage, do your research. Ebay and Google have very good articles on authentication.
- Be Patient: If the auction has a lot of interest, don’t bid until the last 5-10 minutes if you can help it. It helps stop people from having the time to outbid you.
Those are my tips.
Have you ever purchased second hand clothing from Ebay? Do you have any tips of
your own?

Frock Flip Friday: Sweater Dress Upcycle / Refashion
Dress | Gap $5 Boots | Aldo $110
The Back Story: Life is hard… with that being said someone told me once that when you are feeling down and out, you need to do the thing that you are passionate about. So this flip didn’t have a destination or event in mind. I flipped this because it was good for the soul! I purchased this dress from the Gap for $4.97. I made impromptu plans to stay at my boyfriend’s house and hadn’t packed a bag. I an effort to avoid waking up crazy early, I need to buy something to wear to work the next day. The only requirement was that it was CHEAP. It was still summer when I purchased it so that’s why it was dirt-cheap. I had no plans on ever wearing the darn thing again, but like I said flipping it was chicken soup for the soul. I am super pleased with the results.
The Idea: You and I both have seen a ton of tops and dress
with the almost chocker like neckline. So I decided to give it a try.
Flip Difficulty :
Tools Needed: Ruler/measuring, Marking Tool, Scissors, tape,
Sewing Machine (optional)
The Process:
* do not try and sew the raw edges unless you have a serger . I made that mistake and had to cut of more than I had planned to correct it.

Men's Shirt Upcycle/ Refashion: The Fashion Week Edition
The Back Story: I’M Back!!! Sorry between trying to adjust to my new schedule, being sick, and losing my photographer the struggle to find time to post has been real. I purposefully decided not to attend any shows this season with the exception of my friend Jacquetta who showed her collection. I didn’t think I was going to make it to the show. So I threw together this frock flip in literally 20 min. The shirt is JoS banks and of course it was thrifted (Buy The Bag). I’ve wanted to do a men’s shirt series, but haven’t had the time. Until then enjoy..
The Idea: This one was straight out of the pages of my own imagination.
Flip Difficulty :
Tools Needed: Ruler, Marking Tool, Scissors, Sewing Machine (optional)
